Place walnuts in a small skillet over medium heat; sauté for a few minutes, until fragrant. In a food processor combine walnuts, garlic, basil leaves, olive oil, and salt and pepper. Process until a coarse paste is formed. Thin with additional water as needed.
Add lemon juice if desired. Serve over whole grain pasta or spread on a sandwich or pizza. Yum!
