Hearty Slow-Cooked Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 (16oz) bag dried split peas
- 2 cup diced cooked lean ham
- 1 cup carrots. diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 5 cup boiling water (or vegetable stock)
- 1 cup low-fat hot milk

Instructions
- In a slow cooker, layer the first nine ingredients in order listed (do not stir). Cover and cook on high for 4 to5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Stir in milk. Discard bay leaves before serving.
