Pedal Power Bicycle Education!
FREE class with LUNCH!
Wednesday, July 11th, 10am-11:30am
La Crosse County 5th-8th grade students and families are invited to participate a Pedal Power Bicycle Education class, held on Wednesday, July 11th, from 10:00am-11:30am. This class will include a brief overview of bike maintenance, safety, and handling skills and a leisurely ride around Logan Middle (highlighting routes from French Island using nearby bike lanes and trails). Families are invited to join but parent/guardian participation is not required.
A FREE meal will be provided to all participants at the end of the ride.
The waiver MUST be completed and turned in prior to or when arriving at the event. Click here to download waiver.

Space is limited to the first 24 participants so registration is required for all participants. Please register by Friday, July 6th, 2018. Everyone who participates will receive a bike lock and meal.

Please make sure all bikes are in good working condition prior to the event (tires, chain, seats, etc.)
Helmets are required for ALL participants. Participants must be able to ride without training wheels but bike trailers and children in bike seats are welcome. A helmet can be provided if you need one. Please indicate at registration.
*A minimum of 12 participants are required otherwise the event will be cancelled and those registered will be notified by noon on the day of the event.

May 2018 Wheel to School Week Challenge!
A lifetime of being active begins on the way to school!
You are invited to participate in the La Crosse County Safe Routes to School 8th annual Wheel to School Week Challenge, April 30th-May 5th, 2018. K-8th grade students and school staff are encouraged to participate in the Challenge by biking, rollerblading, skating, and/or walking, to, from and after school throughout the week.
Participants should complete and submit a log. Participating schools can collect logs and turn them in at the end of the Challenge or each individual log can be mailed directly to the health department (see information below). Logs will be used to determine the school with the highest participation percentage. The winning school will receive the Silver Spoke Award to display at their school until the next Challenge period. Scooters, and other great prizes will also be given away to individual participants.
