Year Round Activities

Sunday Mornings- River City Running Group Runs
Meet at parking lot on UW-La Crosse, across from the Eagle’s Nest bar (Campbell Rd. and Vine Street). We will be running the “Old Style” loop which is 6 miles starting at 7:30 AM.

Monday Nights- Grand Bluff Running Group Runs
Come for a fun, no-pressure run with a great group of people and stay for snacks and refreshments. Every Monday night leaving from the store at 6:00 PM.

Wednesday nights- River City Running Group Runs
Wednesday night summer trail runs. Meet at Myrick parking lot. Run Hixon trails for about 1 hour. We plan on doing this as long as we have light in the evenings. Wednesday night winter route will meet at the La Crosse YMCA and run about 6 miles. Run starting at 5:30 PM.

Thursday Nights- River City Running Group Runs
Meet at the parking lot across from Boot Hill Pub, 1501 St. Andrew St. The runs last about an hour and frequently include marsh and/or hixon Forest Trails. Run starting at 5 PM.

Friday Mornings- Grand Bluff Running Group Runs
Start your day off right with a fun run with great friends and delicious crepes served afterward. Every Friday morning leaving from the store at 6:30 AM.

Saturday Mornings- River City Running Group Runs
Groups of runners will run distances of 6 to 20 miles and paces from 7 minutes to 10 minutes per mile. Every Saturday morning, meeting in the La Crosse YMCA parking lot by the northwest entrance and leaving at 7:00 AM.

The Outdoor Connection Equipment Rental Service has everything you’ll need to experience year round outdoor adventures big and small. The Outdoor Connection rents gear to the students, faculty, staff and the general public.

Summer Season- Cameron Park Farmers Market
The Cameron Park Farmers Market is a vendor-run farmers market in the La Crosse area committed to providing local, sustainably-produced produce, meats, dairy, and other locally produced foods, as well as arts and crafts from local artists.

Summer Season- Kane Street Community Garden Harvest
Every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoon during the harvest season (beginning in June), volunteers assist at the garden, harvesting vegetables for distribution. After harvesting is completed, volunteers are allowed to be first in line for the distribution of vegetables, but anyone coming to the garden will receive produce.

Summer Season- Equipment Rental Parks and Recreation
La Crosse Parks and Recreation is giving you the opportunity to rent our canoes, kayaks, discs, and fishing poles! Rentals will be available June – August and are available at Pettibone Lagoon Day Camp Shelter on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00–8:00PM and on Saturdays from 11:00AM–3:00PM.

Summer Season- Pettibone Park Disk Golf Course
This course has been built for your use and enjoyment with the help of Gundersen Health System. The Recreation Department will also have Disc rentals available on site.

 Winter Season- Grand Bluff Running Winter Run Series
Join us for our second annual GBR Winter Series. This year, we’ll have 5 runs from November to March. This year’s series is sponsored by Saucony, who will be on hand at each of the runs with demo shoes to try out, as well as great giveaways and fun themes for each run. All runs will have 3, 5 and 7 mile options and will leave Grand Bluff Running at 6:00pm.

Winter Season- Copeland Park Outdoor Ice Rink
Copeland Park has an outdoor rink, but no warming house. The rink is at the north end of Copeland Park and is available for public skating.

Green Island Ice Arena offers public open skate and open hockey throughout the winter. Times vary so please check the website for the latest information.

The Onalaska Omni Center will be having public open skates throughout the winter. Afternoon Skate times will be from 11am – 3pm and evening skate times will be offered from 5pm- 8pm. Please see the website for specific open skate dates.
