Foot Steps to Health

Foot Steps to Health is a La Crosse County initiative developed to help residents eat more fruits and vegetables. Foot Steps to Health began at area grocery stores in June of 2008 and continues to expand to worksites, restaurants and farmers’ markets. Foot Steps to Health provides education on how to pick, store, and prepare the featured produce. See current and archived newsletters here.

Each month, a fruit and vegetable are selected as the Harvest of the Month. The produce is featured on promotional signage throughout the community and demoed at select sites at a nutrition kiosk that provides tasty samples. Click here for nutrition kiosk dates. The quick and delicious recipes are always family friendly! View all Foot Steps to Health recipes by clicking here.

The Harvest of the Month is also promoted in all five public school districts though the La Crosse County Farm to School. The Foot Steps to Health initiative works closely with Viterbo University and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse students to educate the community. The local media also provides education opportunities to the community through this initiative.
